General Dentistry

Behind every beautiful smile are healthy teeth and gums. Toothaches and inflammation are well-known indicators of tooth decay or gum disease, but it takes a trained eye to detect many invisible problems below the surface of the teeth. For optimum oral health, prevent and treat potentially painful conditions related to tooth decay and gum disease with regular dental care from the experienced team at Bloomington Modern Dentistry.

Periodontal Therapy

Most Americans experience some form of periodontal disease, often without realizing it. Periodontal disease is chiefly responsible for adult tooth loss, bleeding gums, bad breath and receding gums. The truth is, it is easily prevented with proper hygiene, home care and professional treatment. If diagnosed in its early stages, gum disease treatments are easier, less invasive and more effective. Your visit with a dentist includes a complete evaluation of your gums and supportive tissues. At Bloomington Modern Dentistry, you will have access to advanced periodontal therapy to heal and restore your oral health.

Root Canal

Damage to the nerve tissue inside of a tooth sometimes requires a root canal procedure. Despite the tales you may have heard regarding the procedure, most root canals are minimally uncomfortable, especially compared to the pain and discomfort you may be feeling before the procedure. Your dentist at Bloomington Modern Dentistry takes advantage of advances in technology and dental techniques that make root canal procedures more effective while taking less time.

Wisdom Teeth

Do you still have your wisdom teeth? Have you been putting off their removal? The team at Bloomington Modern Dentistry can help. At some point in your life, most everyone requires that their wisdom teeth be extracted as a measure of preventative dentistry. A number of painful and lasting problems can occur due to the arrival of wisdom teeth. But with today’s dental technology, this procedure has been improved to maximize your comfort and speed along your recovery time. Before extracting your wisdom teeth, your dentist will administer a local or general anesthetic, based on your own needs and patient history. Then he will open up the gum tissue over the tooth, remove any bone covering the tooth, separate any connective tissue, and remove the tooth itself. If necessary, your dentist will use stitches to close up the surgical wound. In most cases, your recovery from wisdom tooth extraction will only last a few days. Your Bloomington Modern Dentistry team will provide with you with detailed information on the do’s and don’ts of recovery, and you will be prescribed medication to manage any pain. Finally, you’ll have peace of mind knowing you’re no longer at risk for the many problems wisdom teeth can present!

Oraverse

You need a complex dental procedure, and that means using a local anesthetic for the pain. But you hate that numb feeling in your mouth that takes hours to go away after you leave the dentist. At Bloomington Modern Dentistry, we have the solution: Oraverse. Utilizing a startling breakthrough technology, Oraverse “reverses” the effects of local anesthesia, allowing you regain lip sensation in less than half time. With Oraverse, you can trust your smile, your speech, and your ability to eat and drink will return much faster, so you can get on with your life!

Tooth Extraction

In some cases, injury or decay damages a tooth extensively and an extraction is the proper treatment option to start you on the path toward complete dental health. We can remove your troublesome tooth and give you the treatment options for replacing that tooth and completing your beautiful smile again.

Fillings

When the decay has been taken out of the tooth, it is replaced with “filling” material. In the past, amalgam (silver) fillings were placed into the cleaned out portion of the tooth. With advancements in dentistry, you can now have tooth-colored fillings instead of silver fillings.

Mouth Guards

If your child plays sports or other similar activities, mouth guards are a great way to protect their teeth from potential injury. They are easy to clean, come in many color combinations and are custom made to fit comfortably in your child’s mouth.
